What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

We collect and process personal data for the purpose of processing your bookings, providing services, improving user experience, and complying with legal obligations. Below are the categories of personal data we collect and the purposes for which we collect them:

Comments:
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media:
If you upload images to the website, we recommend avoiding uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images.

Cookies:
We use cookies to enhance user experience. If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again. These cookies will last for one year.

When you log in, we also set several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Third-Party Embedded Content:
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

Analytics & Data Retention:
We use analytics tools like Google Analytics to track and analyze user behavior on our site. We retain personal data (such as comments and user profiles) for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Comments: Retained indefinitely for follow-up comments and moderation.
  • User Profiles: Stored indefinitely unless the user decides to delete or edit their personal information.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have several rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You may request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Erasure: You may request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: You may correct or update any personal data we hold about you.
  • Data Portability: You have the right to transfer your data to another service provider, where applicable.

To exercise your rights, please contact us at [email address]. Please note that we may retain some data for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe your data rights have been violated.

Where We Send Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. In addition, some personal data may be transferred to third-party services (such as analytics providers, Gravatar, or payment processors), including those outside the EU/EEA. We ensure that these transfers are compliant with GDPR regulations.
